Tokyo Marathon has wrecked me five different times — through cold, snow, ice, rain, sun, and humidity. I returned to run 42.195 km through Tokyo once again, from the start in Shinjuku to the finish in front of Tokyo Station.
This race is one of the world’s greatest marathons, but the story doesn’t end at the finish line. This is my personal journey through the pain, cramps, crowds, weather, and emotion of Tokyo Marathon — and what happened afterward, when Japan’s food, baths, kindness, and recovery culture helped put me back together.

👏 POCARI SWEAT US, thank you for the chance to bring this story to the world to show how amazing Tokyo, Japan is From Race to Recovery!
