Osaka Street Food Guide: Dotonbori

So you’re going to Osaka and you want some information on things to see and do — and EAT!
Well, one place you shouldn’t miss is Dotonbori. (sometimes spelled Dotombori or Doutonbori)
It’s Osaka’s historical entertainment district and well know for it’s cheap eats — street stands and restaurants.
Guidebooks used to compare it to the futuristic scenes from Blade Runner.

In the episode of ONLY in JAPAN, Kevin Riley and I go up and down the street looking for the best street foods.
We find Ramen, GYOZA, TAKOYAKI, Grilled Crab Legs and Crab Brains, and finally KUSHIKATSU.

How does it taste? Check out the video above.

Dotonbori is closest to Namba Station and can easily be reached from Shinsaibashi Station as well.
It’s seriously crowded on the weekends and in the evenings.
Restaurants and street stands officially open at 10:00 but don’t really get started until 10:30 when the takoyaki is cooked and ready to be devoured!

Don’t miss:
CREO-RU’S TAKOYAKI with half-boiled egg, a mountain  of green negi, Japanese mayonnaise and sauce.
450 Yen for 6
It’s so crazy, it’s good!
